Weekly Devotional - Even if it hurts..

Job 1:21 NLT

He said, "I came from my mother's womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!"

Thwarted meaning: to prevent someone from accomplishing something.

When I think of trials people had to face throughout history, especially those mentioned in the Bible, the first one that comes to mind is the trials Job faced. He lost everything. Job knew the loss of his dearly loved children and his estate would not negate the goodness of God!

His response to loss demonstrates a truly remarkable faith in God, something we can learn from.

I encourage you to read Job, may it shed some light on how we should react to things happening in our lives that we have no control over. We may question things that happen in our lives, why me God? Did I deserve this? The truth is, God wants to see how we cling to our faith during the most heartbreaking experiences humanly possible. Do you give in to those constant questions and doubt or do you rise above the pain and say “I know that You can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted. I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.” Job 42:2-5 NIV

In the end, Job was even more blessed in his 2nd half of life.

We face so many of our own obstacles the devil throws in our path but no matter how horrible or heartbreaking things may seem, Praise the Lord! God alone is the only way out, He is sovereign! Even when it hurts we will praise You, God!
