Weekly Devotional - Praying for others

James 5:16 ESV:

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."

Be honest. When you tell someone, “ I’ll be praying for you..” how often do you actually stop what you’re doing and pray for that person?

I was the WORST at saying that with no follow through. It seemed like the appropriate thing to say to someone, especially someone that was suffering a loss or battling sickness.

The truth is, there are so many around us fighting battles spiritually and physically and oftentimes, some we may never see. It’s important to pray for those around us as often as we can.

I am where I am today because I had people around me praying for me. I was in a dark place for many years of my life.

Thank God people that love me pray for me!

So anytime you see someone struggling or asking for prayer, stop what you’re doing and say a prayer for them. Prayer is a ministry. You don’t need a leadership role, you don’t need a huge following, you only need to partner with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Together, you can sustain the weary, cure the sick and call the lost sheep home!

Praying for someone is the most genuine form of love there is. It produces humility and forces our thoughts from ourselves and directs them to the Lord and His people. Prayer has so much power! Use that power to bless others.
